Go For The Big Fails

May 10, 2014

Here’s a theory.  Granted, it’s really simplistic.  And since it’s just a thought I’m playing with, totally unsupported by any science whatsoever, feel free to debunk it with real science in your comments!

HUMANS ARE THE ONLY SPECIES THAT DEVELOPS THROUGH ONGOING TRIAL, ERROR, AND FAILURE.

This theory leads me to a second theory:

YOU NEED TO START FAILING AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE.

Challenge the generations of traditional wisdom that suggest you need to know what you don’t know before you know it, and start LIVING.

If every one of us took all the time, energy and attention we spend on shaming ourselves for not knowing what we don’t know before we know it, that combined energy might be a power source that could eliminate the need for all the pollutants we use?!!  (Another unsupported, unscientific theory.)

Here’s a question for you.  If failures were perceived for what they are—successful first steps in attempts to grow, develop and learn something new—would we be having way more fun?

My next exciting possible grand failure is an in-person group meditation that will be offered in my offices in Lisle.  During the month of June, Lisa Connell and I will be facilitating a group meditation on Sunday afternoons from 4 to 5 pm.  We’ll sit a bit, walk a bit, read a bit and talk a bit.  That’s it!

Space is limited so if you’d like to join us send me an email and I’ll get back to you to confirm.

And in the meantime, fail often and big!  Talk to your friends about grand failures so that they can come into perspective.  WE ALL FAIL.  And I for one would really appreciate hearing that I’m not alone.

This I know–you are a thousand times more resilient than you’ve allowed yourself to discover.  Give yourself permission to experience it, because resilience feels really good.

Much love,

I have found this approach in life helps me appreciate and savor the scenery as I take each step. It helps me view life’s path with optimism. 🙂 Love, Vicki
